For sale is a rare vintage Altec 639B "Bird-cage" mic. It's in great shape and fully functional. It just got back from full servicing including new ribbon. What makes this mic extra special is it came from the New York City United Nations (we purchased a large collection of microphones that originally belonged to NYC UN). The Altec 639 is identical to the Western Electric 639, just under different brand names. The only thing to note is the multi-pattern switch is not completely effective due to the age of this one part and it's impossible to find replacement for this part. This is a common fault on this model due to their age. It is currently set to the ribbon+dynamic combination and can be switched to other settings but some of the other pattern combination settings may not be fully operational due to the faulty switch. This is a classic sounding ribbon / dynamic mic that also looks impressively cool. Don't miss out!
