Inventory:
We do our best to keep the inventory on our website up to date. While updates are made daily, there may be rare occasions when an item shows as in-stock but has already sold-out and the website has not yet been updated to reflect the current status. We recommend inquiring before purchase to confirm availability.
As a small shop we are not always able to keep every item in-stock for all brands. Our vintage and used selection is typically accurate and up to date, but some new items - particularly from boutique manufacturers - may require build time or are on backorder. Certain products may also need to be special ordered, which can add extra time to delivery.
If you have time-sensitive needs, please contact us for availability and the best estimated arrival dates.
Shipping:
We always offer FREE shipping within the continental USA (except where noted on specific oversized items). We ship daily, typically with Fedex or UPS. A signature is required on all items valued over $500. If you prefer a specific carrier or expedited shipping speed, please contact us for arrangements. Most orders ship within 1-3 business days after orders have been placed, but there may be delays depending on the item or our workload. For time sensitive needs please contact us before purchase to confirm shipping speeds. Large items may take additional time for packaging. International shipping to most countries is available, contact us for specific costs and delivery speeds. Cart shipping rates for international orders are best estimates but not always accurate. Please contact us for exact shipping quote to international addresses.
Tax:
Sales tax is always charged in the state of Tennessee. We do price match on certain items, so if you are in Tennessee and looking for potential savings be sure to contact us for best price quotes. All other states not mentioned above have no sales tax. International orders have no sales tax but international buyers will be responsible for any potential import taxes or custom charges.

You can checkout with a variety of options including secure credit card processing and paypal. In addition we also now offer alternative payment options for potential savings. Returns & Refunds (Continental USA):
New Items : We offer a 10-day return on all new items sold within the continental USA. For new items that are defective, depending on the item, we will replace the item or have it serviced under manufacturers’ warranty (at our discretion).
Non-eligible items: Sale/discount items, discontinued items, limited edition items or any custom quoted discount priced items (by website or by other communication such as email or phone), special order items or as-is items may be subject to all-sales-final and not eligible for return or cancellation.
Vintage / Used Items: Vintage and used items sold within the continental USA include a 7-day return window starting on the date of delivery. If a vintage/used item arrives not-as-described or with a functional issue, you must contact us within this 7-day period so we can review the issue and provide a solution.
Our standard resolution process:
1. Repair the item at Retro Gear Shop - This is our default solution.
• If we determine the item is faulty, Retro Gear Shop will cover all repair costs at Retro Gear Shop and shipping costs. This does not apply to outside repair centers.
2. Outside repair centers
• We do not generally approve repairs done outside of Retro Gear Shop
• Use of any outside technician or service center requires written approval from Retro Gear Shop before any work begins.
• We only cover costs up to a maximum dollar amount that is preapproved in writing in advance.
• Any unapproved repair costs or diagnostic fees are the customer’s responsibility.
3. If the item cannot be repaired, we may offer (at our discretion):
• An equivalent replacement item (if available),
• An alternative solution (or)
• A refund.
4. If the issue is due to user error, improper operation, limitations of the original manufacturer’s design, or no fault found, the customer is responsible for any related costs, including:
• Shipping costs,
• Technician evaluation fees, and/or
• Restocking fees if returning the item for a refund.
For all shipments: Inspect the packaging on arrival and notate with photos any possible signs of damage to the outer box. Open the box carefully and not destructively and also keep all the original packaging box and materials in case you need to do a return or we need to file a damage claim with the carrier. Any disposal or destruction of packing material may void any returns/warranty/repairs offered through Retro Gear Shop, or add additional processing costs.
All returns/refunds: Any returns for refund, for any reason (new, vintage, used, not-as-described, dead-on-arrival or defective) may be subject to a 15% restocking fee plus any associated shipping costs (minimum $200 per item plus ship costs). Shipping charges will not be refunded on any return. If you need a discounted pre-paid return shipping label let us know. Contact us for return approval before shipping any items back to us. An additional fee may be assessed for any items returned to us without original packing material, missing contents or added wear.
Refund requests on orders that have not shipped yet may be subject to a restocking fee.
International orders: For all international orders, please contact us prior to purchase for specific return policy and guarantees. International buyers are responsible for all customs duty / import tax as well as ensuring proper use of the item at the correct voltage for your country before power up.
Consignment, Trade-in, Used Gear and Vintage Gear Resale:
We are vintage and used gear specialists and can help you sell your gear. Our rates are reasonable and we offer top quality service in handling your used equipment. If you are looking for the best price for your gear but don’t have the time or knowledge about selling, let us do the work for you. We can also offer to purchase your gear or trade-in your gear for new items. Customer information is collected for the purpose of processing your order. This information is kept confidential and is not shared.
Watermarks:
You may notice all our photos have a Retro Gear Shop watermark. This protects our images from unauthorized use, which happens often, especially with vintage/used equipment. Without watermarks, buyers might be cheated by potential scammers using our images. We have received countless stories from these buyers over the years. By protecting our images with watermarks, you'll know that if the image doesn't originate from our site, it's not a genuine Retro Gear Shop sale.
Watermarks also proves we actually have the gear here with us and take the time to do our own photos. You can rest assured that RGS is not just another online drop-ship operation but a real store with experienced musicians who have handled, tested and used the actual items in person. When you ask us about our equipment you'll get honest first-hand experience.
Lastly, we spend a lot of time, training and resources perfecting our photos. We take pride in displaying our gear as the art pieces they are. Protecting our work is important to us, but we try to make the watermarks as unobtrusive as possible. On the plus side, you'll be viewing some of the highest quality pictures you can find on all your favorite gear.
