For sale is an extremely rare vintage Solid State Logic SSL SL632a 48-Channel 19" Rack Vintage Mixer. This mixer is owned by F. Reid Shippen, multiple Grammy award-winning mixer, engineer, and producer. It has been a staple in his studio here in Nashville and used on many of his hit records. It's like having an SSL G+ series mixing console in a 19" rack format. It's tested and fully functional, with minor servicing as needed by our in-house techs. It includes external power supply and in/out cabling, along with some manuals. Don't miss out on a one-time-chance to get a unique piece of SSL history!
Reid describes the desk as follows:
"It's 48 Channel x 8 Buss x 2 Mix x 2 Aux, which is key because it allows for a lot of routing options - and ESPECIALLY for parallel compression and buss compression. "Brauerize" your shit!
Custom-built by SSL for certain film mixing studios in Hollywood. They are very rare, I've only seen 1 other. Highest quality ingredients because it was for film sound.
It would originally run off the SSL power supplies in the desk (pass-thru). The one that's with it has the extra rails shut off because they're not necessary.
This will also tie in to the SSL VCA controls (as you can see at the bottom) and follow fader levels, mutes, solos, and grouping, for those with mini-desks especially. Theoretically, this could be controlled with Tangerine animation or similar.
It's the only way to get the sound of a G+ desk without having a G+ desk."
