For sale is a rare vintage Yamaha PM-1000 16 channel analog mixer console uniquely modded with 16 Altec 1588B transformer/mic pre modules. Whoever performed the mods appears to have done it thoughtfully and knew what they were doing. This adds a unique flavor / tone to this PM1000 that you won't find on stock PM1000's. The caps were measured on one of the modules and were healthy (and not leaking), so we might assume the caps overall on the desk are healthy but it's likely they will need replacement eventually due to age as preventative maintenance. The desk did receive some light servicing by our techs (as noted below) but it needs a more professional servicing. While the desk functions, we noted it has some minor issues such as intermittent signals on the sub masters (possibly an issue with channel connectors and/or motherboard), and over stiff phaser, midrange and hi-pass switches. Due to our workload we are selling this as-is, no warranties, guarantees, refunds or returns. We can have it fully serviced for additional cost. Our techs have performed the following work:
- Installed IEC power jack
- Cleaned and exercised all switches and pots (with the exception of the fader pots as they are sealed)
- Securely mounted all Altec transformers in each channel
- Tested main PSU and transformer PSU, adjusted voltage on main PSU to +44V
- Untangled and re-ran transformer power cables
- Tested with signalApproximate measurements (inches)

One ebay member messaged with the following information, but we do not know if this is true: this unit might be one previously installed in downtown Jackson, MS church in the 1970’s. That was used as a broadcast console and the modification was performed due to RF interference encountered on the site. The Altec preamps solved the problem and the unit was used for many years with no problems other than the same fader problems mentioned in the description.
