For sale is a custom FCS P3EX MI musical instrument preamp / compressor. Class A audio path with FCS transformers and 2X FCS Class A op amps. This is serial number 2 (only 2 were ever built). This one came from Roger Foote's personal home collection and is now being offered up for sale. Foote builds high quality equipment and this one is no exception. P3EX MI functions
PREAMP:
> Preamp Gain- 20dB maximum
Compressor:
> Attack 1.5 - 150ms per dB of gain reduction. Multiply your GR by the Attack
setting for actual time. (15-1500ms at 10 dB GR)
> Release 10 - 750ms per dB of gain reduction. Multiply your GR by the release
setting for actual time. (100-7500ms at 10 dB GR)
> Threshold -30 - +15db
> Ratio 1:1 - 8:1
> Gain 0dB - 20dB
> HPF 400Hz - Off (~ 10Hz)
> GR meter- 0db through 10dB of reduction.
> RMS/Peak switch- Switches between RMS and Peak (variable Attack/Delay)
> RMS1 / RMS2 switch- Switches between standard RMS timing and RMS 2 which
cuts the RMS timings in half for taming boomy signals. Or for more “spank”.
> Hard / Soft switch- Switches between Hard Knee and Soft Knee and affects both
RMS and Peak.
> Compress / Bypass switch- Hard wire bypass
Rear panel connectors:
> PSU input (external PSU included)
> TRS and XLR balanced output- These are in parallel. You can drive balanced or
un-balanced inputs. For un-balanced inputs (Guitar/Bass amps) just use a TS cable
> Sidechain Insert- This allows an additional processor to be connected before the
detection circuit. (Tip = Send/ Ring = Receive)
> Tuner - This TS (un-balanced) output takes the signal just before the compressor
and allows you to run a cable from Tuner output on the P3EX MI and your
guitar/bass tuner.
