For sale is a rare Ampex 351 modified as a mic preamp. You may notice it's missing tubes but the current modification does not need them. Unit functions fully as a mic preamp per the modification. Equalization does not work and not intended to be used with the preamp modification. Transfer switch needs to be set for "Micro-Phone" and Meter/output switch should be in the "level" position under "record" for VU function. To turn off the meter move switch to "bias". This unit now has phantom power via the new Retro-Gear-Shop installed 48V psu board mounted on the unit, as well as pad and polarity. "Record Level" is input gain, "playback level" is output control. Controls in the up position indicates "on". This is a great sounding tube microphone pre.
