Linn LM-1 owned by John Deacon of Queen
For sale is a very rare vintage Linn Electronics LinnDrum LM1 analog drum machine. What makes this one exceptionally special is it was originally owed by John Deacon, bassist for Queen. This LM-1 might be the most famous owned (and photographed) LM-1 besides Prince's.

Notes from current owner:
"This LM-1 (rev 2) was bought new by John Deacon in March 1981, used extensively on Queen’s Hot Space album and again on The Works album, along with the Linndrum. I sent Peter Mince, who was Freddie’s long time roadie and the band’s photographer, pics of it and he told me the reason the tape with the words “Please Be Gentle” and underneath in a different hand “It’s my first time”. He said when they first got the LM-1 and were in Munich recording, "certain musicians" were obsessed with it and would pound the pads and broke the contacts on a couple. Peter had to fly back to London with it, have it repaired and fly back to Munich in 24 hours. After that Deacon put the tape on (he said the later addition of “It’s my first time” was written by Brian May’s roadie.) The photos of Brian holding the machine (and the one with it in the studio with Deacon) were taken by Peter for the Hot Space tour program. I bought the machine from John and Veronica Deacon in the custom made road case. I have the appropriate documentation from the purchase. It also has a MIDI clock sync mod, installed c1983 for syncing it with their Linndrum during the Works album sessions. It needed some basic servicing so I had Jay Beste in Detroit go through it and he did an amazing job recapping, disassembling all the sliders and pots and cleaning, resoldering any weak traces, rebuilding the PSU and rewriting for 110 (it was obviously originally wired for 240). Works beautifully."

Also worth mentioning that the original road case, Packhorse Case Co. LTD made cases primarily for top touring acts such as Queen, The Rolling Stones. As current owner mentions, he has documentation proof of purchase bought from Deacon estate through a clearance agent that will be provided to winning buyer, as well as servicing records.

Don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime chance to own a historic collectible!
