Retro Gear Shop was founded in 2017 and, over the past decade, has grown to become a leading worldwide destination for rare, vintage, and high-end pro-audio recording equipment, synthesizers, and effects.
Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Retro Gear Shop carries a one-of-a-kind selection of high-end musical instruments, recording equipment, and pro-audio gear. We buy, sell, and trade, and offer consignments, helping hundreds of clients find new homes for their gear. We specialize in microphones, compressors, preamps, equalizers, synthesizers, drum machines, samplers, and effects, and have a serious passion for vintage and used equipment.
Our repair/service department is now open for outside repairs and customizations. With a focus on the preservation, restoration, and servicing of vintage analog pro-audio equipment, effects, and synths, we keep old pieces out of the landfill and bring them back from the grave, giving them a new life for the next generation of musicians.
We started with an obsession for vintage gear: real hardware built to last with that unmistakable sound. While we don’t sell exclusively vintage equipment, we focus on vintage, used, and modern gear that harks back to an era where quality and sound came above all else—before digital existed and before we had a computer and mouse to change values on a screen.
We don’t strive to carry every piece of gear under the sun. All the gear in our shop is hand-selected for its build quality and sound, pieces we’d be happy to own and use in our studio. We don’t hype anything just for the sake of a sale, and we won’t sell you “hot items” of the day just because they’re the “newest-latest-greatest.” We prefer to sell items we truly believe in — pieces meant to make great music. Most of the items we sell are ones we’ve had firsthand experience using in the studio. If there is a must-have item or piece of gear you need that isn’t in our shop, please contact us, and we’ll do our best to accommodate and secure it for you.
