For sale is a rare vintage Fender 1966 Musicmaster II Daphne Blue electric guitar. This came from Reid Shippen's studio here in Nashville (famous mixer/producer) and may have been used on some of his hit records.
Assessment details by our in-house guitarist: Kluson deluxe tuners. Includes case. Nice finish checking, "F" neckplate, original electronics, rosewood fingerboard with decent amount of life left in the frets, pearloid dot markers, some light finish damage. The nut width is 1.5” which we believe makes it an “A” neck. The finish appears to be the factory original as it exhibits the period-correct clear-coat checking and yellowing. The hot wire from the output to the volume pot may be a replacement and there is evidence of non-factory solder work, however the pots, pickup, tone cap, output jack, and the rest of the wiring harness appear to be original. The pickup is dated 8/26/1966. The nut appears to be era correct, however there is evidence of it being re-glued at some point. There is one non-original pickguard screw. The 2nd through 21st frets are fairly flattened from playing and have likely had fretwork done over the years. The frets are playable and have some life left in them, though they would likely need to be crowned/polished for optimum performance, and possibly replaced depending on fretting preferences. The first fret does not appear to have been worked on as it is much less flat than the rest of the frets and shows string wear under the G, B, and high E strings.
