For sale is a rare vintage Neve 33609 "metal knob" era compressor with rare 512 opamp card specifically made for the BBC. This is the most desirable version with original transformers, Marinair and St. Ives L10468 and St. Ives L31267. It includes 512 amplifier, which is quite rare. The B512 is mentioned by Geoff Tanner as being better and the BBC insisted upon having this card. The original B440 amp card will overload after large volume/voltage spikes and cause distortion. The BBC wanted a card without overload issues, so Neve designed the B512 with a slight change to design and doesn't suffer from overload problems like the B440. The B512 has a differential-input that solves the distortion problems due to large volume without changing the rest of the 33609 circuit. The B512 still has the same vintage-tone that everyone seeks in a vintage 33609 but without the limiting distortion problems of the B440. Later 33609 models with the B640 on the other-hand are not discrete and hand-wired, with a drop-in IC chip. So this vintage 33609 with original transformers and B512 is really the best 33609 you can get. Fully functional, sounds incredible. These original Neve units are only going up in value. Amazing for tracking and the mix buss, has a tone that makes everything coming out sound better. Don't pass this one up!
