For sale is a rare vintage Otari MX5050 MkIII-2 1/4" 2-Track Reel to Reel Tape Machine. This is sold as-is, for parts/repairs, no warranties, guarantees, refunds or returns. Here is our tech's assessment:
- Rough cosmetic shape
- Loose and missing hardware throughout
- Transport seems to work, some functions cannot be tested
- Pinch roller is dry-rotted and doesn't work
- Mic input 1 has issues, Mic 2 and line 1 & 2 seem okay
- Cannot test record or repro functions due to the pinch roller
- The To Deck connector on the rear of the meter bridge is damaged as well as the mating connector, but they appear to work fine
