RCA PB-90 Velocity Microphone
For sale is a very rare vintage RCA PB-90 Velocity Microphone. It's in great shape considering its age. Working great, sounds wonderful. This is considered a precursor to the RCA 44 mic. Includes AEA case for protection/storage.

Within the past 5 years, this PB90 was fully serviced and rebuilt by Stephen Sank, Talking Dog Transducer Co and upgraded to be a fully proper, but improved, 44A. The upgrades make this 44A the most natural & superb sounding version of the whole 44-series. Both the output cable AND the internal wiring are now all silverplated copper conductors, so, if not abused, sound will never decay.

According to Stephen

“The two upgrades that made it into a proper & improved 44A are

1) Removal of baffle plates that were intended to make the PB90 have a wider pickup pattern, but mostly just colored the sound by creating internal bounces
2) Deletion of what Olson called 'damping screens', which also colored the sound, and which my dad removed from production midway through 44BX run in 1955.
Created, installed & tuned new ribbon element, using orig. RCA Camden engineering shop tooling; Installed silk particle protection screens; Fully re-wired internals with silverplated wire; Installed output cable of late production BK6B silverplated cable; Relined windscreens w/black proper-spec cotton-dacron voile cloth.”
