Introducing the Rhodes MK8 Earth Edition:
Inspired by the beauty of the natural world.
In celebration of Earth Day 2024, Rhodes is thrilled to announce the launch of the new limited-edition MK8 electric piano. With design motivated by the splendour of our environment, this MK8 boasts a whole host of unique features specific to the Earth Edition model.
In a pledge to give back to the planet, Rhodes will plant 500 trees for each MK8 Earth Edition sold through a partnership with charity ‘One Tree Planted’. With a limit of 50 units available, Rhodes aims to plant 25,000 trees in the hope of helping foster a greener tomorrow.
Midi Upgrade included: Over the past year, the Rhodes team has been working hard behind the scenes to develop a truly professional MIDI upgrade for the MK8. The MK8 MIDI system uses advanced sensor technology specially designed to match the sensitivity and feel of the world-class Kluge keybed. This upgrade allows you to control any MIDI device or virtual instrument and be controlled by an external MIDI device, such as an alternative controller or your DAW system. This allows the MK8 to work seamlessly within modern production environments. The new MIDI system also features polyphonic aftertouch and is designed with MIDI 2.0 in mind. Limited Edition Design:
Crafted with sustainability in mind, the MK8 Earth Edition features a unique design inspired by lush forests. Each piano is fashioned from sustainable American Walnut with a sandblasted wooden base and hand-turned, sustainably sourced walnut legs, accentuating the natural grain and beauty of the wood.
Custom Finish:
Metal parts of the piano are adorned with a custom stable rust effect coating, ensuring a distinct pattern on each component, making every piano truly one-of-a-kind. Custom inlays and side panels, enhanced with black dial inserts, add sophistication to the aesthetic.
Exclusive Colour Scheme:
The forest green lid and pedal cover offer a natural style exclusive to this limited edition. The pedal also features an American Walnut 'R' logo badge.
Eco-conscious Construction:
In line with sustainable practices, the piano incorporates eco- conscious elements throughout its construction. The piano lid is crafted from sustainable, recycled ABS material, ensuring durability while minimising environmental impact. All wood used in construction is FSC-certified, promoting forest preservation and sustainable forestry practices.
Analogue Preamp & Effects:
True analogue signal path with various controls, including VOLUME, DRIVE, ENVELOPE FILTER, PARAMETRIC RESONANT EQ, and VARI-PAN with audio rate modulation. Expression pedal control allows for functions like mid sweep, wah, volume, pan speed, and depth. It also features a custom stereo analogue effect processor with VCA COMPRESSOR, PHASER, BUCKET BRIGADE CHORUS, and DELAY, with modulation speed and mix controlled via expression pedal. FX rates and delay mix/time are adjustable, too.
Power Supply:
15-Volt, universal voltage external supply with 4-pin locking XLR.
Keyboard & Pickups:
73-note Rhodes custom spruce keyboard by Kluge Klaviaturen GmbH, with oak and beech keyframe. Precision-wound alnico pickups with anti-slip adjustment and flat- ended pickup heads.
Action & Tone Generation:
Custom high-impact ABS hammers and combs, aerospace-grade damper combs, and black natural wool damper felts. Precision steel tines and tonebars, sustainably sourced Baltic birch tine and pickup rails.
Connectivity:
Balanced XLR and 1/4" jack outputs, all usable simultaneously, with direct pickup output with FX loop, and a headphone jack with independent amp/volume control.
Pedal:
The piano pedal connector is twist-lock with flexi cable, featuring a chrome aluminium footplate and non-slip mat.
Stand:
The telescopic, powder-coated black steel frame with mirror-chrome steel and height- adjustable front legs now includes screw-in walnut legs and rust-effect steel cross-braces. It also folds compactly for easy transport.
