This TR-606 came from original owner, it was hardly used over the years. It has some discoloration on the case due an accident spilling some coco-cola on it, but it doesn't effect performance. The internals are clean with no evidence of spill damage (message if you want to see internals pics). The owner claimed to have used it for only a few months before putting it in the closet for the rest of its life. I received a TB303 and MC202 from the same owner and both of those units came to me in like new shape (the MC202 is for sale in a separate auction, the TB303 already sold). This TR606 is very clean besides the discoloration on the case, so the story makes sense enough. It's fully functional, battery compartment is clean, and there is hardly any signs of wear besides the discolored outer case.
