At the heart of the SR-5 is the same proprietary toroidal transformer found in the SR-1A and SR-2N — delivering exceptional headroom, dimensional low end, and a harmonically rich, authoritative output that feels larger than life.
Place it close to a guitar amplifier and you’re rewarded with that unmistakable classic ribbon tone: thick, three-dimensional mids, controlled low-end punch, and a smooth top that never turns brittle — even under aggressive gain. It captures the body of the cabinet, the texture of the speaker, and the attitude of the performance without harshness or hype.
Move it to vocals and the SR-5 offers intimacy and control. The hyper-cardioid design brings focus and separation, while the ribbon motor delivers natural warmth and detail without sibilant edge.
