For sale is a rare vintage Universal Audio Urei 1176LN Rev B "Bluestripe" Limiting Amplifier compressor. This is from historic Ardent Studios in Memphis TN, home to hundreds of classic recordings including many Gold, Platinum and Grammy-winning records (Led Zeppelin III, Big Star, loads of ZZ Top, The Staples Singers, Isaac Hayes, Leon Russell, The Bar-Kays, Bob Dylan, The White Stripes and many more). Authenticity paperwork will be provided to the winning buyer (you can also see Ardent identification plates on the fronts). Serial number #449. Ardent were the original owners, although the current management at Ardent does not know what happened specifically to the missing cosmetic "blue stripe" on the front panel (it can easily be added if desired with a professional paint company). Serial number and internal components are period correct for a Rev B as well as proof of ownership with Ardent and their historical records, there should be no doubt for the new owner that this is indeed a vintage Rev B "bluestripe" unit. The Rev B is considered one of the most classic vintage compressors out there, especially for vocals. Over the years, Urei would send bulletin updates with details on how to modify older units to have the latest upgrades and improvements that the newer models had. It's very common to find older units to not actually spec to original design of what a true Rev B should have and operate and sound like. This particular unit has been meticulously gone through to be brought back to original Rev B specs and components without any of the later model updates. It's professional checked out and serviced as needed and fully functional. Sounds amazing as vintage 1176 Rev B should. Don't miss out on this classic piece of recording history!
