Vacuvox V41 Tube Preamp

For sale is a Vacuvox V41 stereo dual mono tube microphone pre, a faithful recreation of the rare Maihak Telefunken V41. This model contains NOS Telefunken EF12 steel tubes like the original (additional €500 cost). We waited over 2 years for these to arrive.

Notes from Vacuvox:

The Vacuvox V41 preamp performs exactly like the original in sound, frequency and phase behaviour. It has an upgraded regulated power supply with a much lower noise floor as the original [<-90dB]. It is also more stable which results in a tighter bass end.

Our V41 has 5dB more gain than the original by using the output transformer in a different way.

We have also added a 20dB pad, phase reverse, +48V phantom power, high-pass filter above 60Hz and an extra linear potentiometer to adjust the gain in between the 5dB steps. Channels can be matched by an internal trimmer.

The V41 has two channels with separate power supplies. Each channel has 6 transformers and 4 tubes. There will be two versions to choose from. One with 1x EF12K, 2x EF12, and 1x EZ11 NOS tubes like the original Maihak V41 used, and one with 1x EF804S, 2x EF804, and 1x EZ80 NOS tubes. Sound wise the two versions are very close.

Transformers are custom wound at the same factory we use for the U23. Audio transformers are perfect replica’s from the original Malotki’s and the audio transformers use the purest permalloy (80% nickel). Input and output transformers are shielded through numeral cans and the power transformer has a static shield to prevent noise and clicks coming in from the outside.
